Documents and certificates required for extending residency permits.

The following documents are necessary for extending a residency permit in Greece:

In all cases:
filled-out declaration form
two (2) colour passport-size photographs
clear photocopy of current passport OR identity card for overseas travel purposes that is recognised by Greek government institutions as valid
a certified copy of the preceding residency permit if it is not in current passport pages
a letter of guarantee from a person’s medical insurance company, such as for example:
а) Overseas medical insurance that clearly states insurance for the duration of a person’s stay in Greece
b) Medical insurance cover from Greece
And additionally, and depending on each individual case, there are the following documents in case of        250 000 Euro -valued property purchase:

1. For extending residency permits for foreigners who individually or collectively own a property:
• Statement original about the property remaining in ownership of such person(s) OR
a statement about renting property remaining as valid.
2. For extending residency permits for foreigners who own property through legal entities, whose stocks are also fully owned by such persons:
• Statement original about the property remaining in ownership of such person OR
a statement about renting property remaining as valid.
3. For extending residency permits for foreigners who undersigned a lease about letting hotel apartments or furnished visitor housing in a designated tourist destination for no less than 10 years:
• Statement original about the property remaining in ownership of such person OR
a statement about renting property remaining as valid.
4. For extending residency permits for family members of a foreigner, in accordance with point B para. 4 of clause 20 of the law 4251/2014:
a letter of guarantee from a person’s medical insurance company
a letter of guarantee of property owner assuring of his family status i.e. Married / divorced; legal guardian parent to xx children.
Birth certificate copies of
any children born in Greece, if applicable.
